Move Controller 1.8: Reverse FK

Ever heard the expression "the tail wags the dog"? You can do that now in StudioNEO with Move Controller 1.8! The new reverse FK function lets you move either end of an FK enabled object when rotating FK nodes.

Use this feature by holding the right mouse button and dragging on the standard colored rotation buttons in the move controller window. The same way as you would click-and-drag with the left mouse button for standard FK rotation. Reverse FK works with both single and multiple FK nodes.

The way this works "under the hood" is that the Move Controller calculates where the base position of the FK object should be when rotated in reverse, and moves it to that position after rotating the FK nodes, so you will notice the position and rotation of your selected object change. Depending on exactly how the FK bones are laid out, reverse FK may not work perfectly on every studio object, especially when rotating multiple FK nodes. So if you're getting strange results, stick to one node at a time.

CharLoader 1.4 and MoveController 1.7.5: Create character card images in StudioNEO

Character Loader plugin version 1.4 has a new feature; take a screenshot in the studio to replace the picture on a character card. Instead of boring cards like this:

You can have cards with imaginative poses, scenery and lighting, extra characters, anything you can make in StudioNEO!

Click the "Replace Card" button in the CharLoader Studio window to switch the image on a card with a new one taken from your current Studio scene. Note that this feature doesn't change anything about the character saved on a card, only the card picture. You probably want to make sure that your character is actually part of the picture, but that's up to you.

When saving a picture you can choose from 3 different resolutions
  • Small: 252x352, Illusion's default card size
  • Medium 504x704, twice as big as default
  • Large: The card's vertical resolution will be the same as your full Studio window height.
Character Loader 1.4 also comes with some performance fixes that should hopefully fix the excessive memory use in the character maker that can happen if you have a lot of characters.

The Move Controller plugin has also been upgraded, with support for a hotkey (default 'L') to toggle the Move Controller window, and more intuitive scroll wheel behavior when holding ALT.
